Jennifer Adair will present "Different Perspectives"

There's a well-known adage that perception is reality. How we see something becomes our truth, which can sometimes be self-limiting.  Giving yourself a new perspective can open up new possibilities and generate ideas you haven’t thought of. It can help you improve a relationship with someone and help you enjoy and appreciate all the good things you already have.  Jennifer Adair will lead us through an exercise to uncover our  unconscious bias and perspectives and how it impacts training.

Dawnielle Pierce
will present "DiSC"

DiSC is a powerful method for understanding yourself and others. The DiSC Behavior Styles that are so popular today are based on theories developed by the Harvard educated psychologist, Dr. William Moulton Marston. His DiSC profile theory recognizes four basic, predictable behavior patterns observed in human beings.  During this session, attendees will achieve insight into their own behavioral style and will learn techniques to make training and communication more effective in the workplace.  Attendees will receive a DiSC assessment and a Motivator Assessment as a part of the registration fee ($100-$150 value).

DACUM:  The Foundation for Competency-Based Training
Presenter: John Moser and Kate Fergus from the DACUM International Training Center at The Ohio State University

Are you looking for a proven methodology to identify job competencies in order to develop competency-based training for your organization?

The DACUM (Developing a Curriculum) process is widely used internationally to identify the competencies (tasks) expert workers perform in a given job or occupation. The outcome provides training staff the foundation for a competency-based training program. Join John and Kate to learn how the process works and how to facilitate it effectively in your organization. You will see examples from several state training agencies where a DACUM analysis has been completed. The best part?  You will find out how you can get a free DACUM analysis for one of the jobs in your organization.

Bios—John Moser & Kate Fergus
John Moser is the director of the DACUM International Training Center at OSU, and Kate is the associate director.  Together they teach others how to facilitate the DACUM process through their training program, both on campus at OSU and at the customer’s site anywhere in the world. They also conduct DACUM workshops for clients who don’t have a trained facilitator on staff, and they provide other curriculum development services for state and federal government agencies, community colleges, companies and professional organizations.

John has been with OSU for 13 years, and Kate for six at the Center on Education and Training for Employment on west campus, part of the College of Education and Human Ecology at OSU.
